The Cranes are Flying
The point of view we see in The Cranes are Flying is Veronica's. We follow her from before the war, to after the war is over, when Boris does not return home. Veronica had lost so much, from her family and all her belongings, to the love of her life, to her happiness. To start rebuilding her life Veronica needed to left go of the hurt and pain, and focus on the good things she had in life, Boris, her adopted son, and her adopted family. I believe this is a war film mostly because it is focused during WWII even if it came out later than WWII because Stalin had strict policies about war time films.
Veronica just found out that her family died in one of the bombings, and her home has nothing left.

2)Veronica hugging a bouquet of flowers given to her
when she finds out that Boris has died fighting in the
war.
3) Veronica gets the little stuffed squirrel from Boris on her Birthday, because he would lovingly call her squirrel.
3. Veronica rushes to see Boris before he leaves for war, even if it means getting stuck in the middle of a ton of tanks.
